Nesma Infrastructure and Technology (NIT), a leading infrastructure solutions provider in Saudi Arabia, has signed a major contract with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), marking another significant milestone in the Kingdom’s power sector development.
Valued at over SAR 90 million, the new contract focuses on the interconnection of the Nawaryah substation with the Makkah North Bulk Supply Point (BSP) in Makkah Al-Mukarramah’s western region. The project covers the underground portion of the network and also includes the decommissioning of several outdated substations—specifically the 110 kV Al Otaiba, Kudai Muzdalfa Road, and Khariq Ul Oshar substations—within the western operating area.
Comprehensive Turnkey Project
Under this agreement, NIT will take on the full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) responsibilities. This includes testing, commissioning, and energizing the high-voltage transmission substation and integrating it into the Saudi National Grid. The entire project will be delivered on a lump sum turnkey basis, with an expected completion timeline of 18 months.
This initiative not only strengthens the electrical infrastructure in the holy city of Makkah but also supports SEC’s ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade the Kingdom’s power transmission systems. The retirement of older substations and integration of more efficient infrastructure will contribute to greater energy reliability and sustainability in the region.
Nesma Infrastructure and Technology continues to play a key role in advancing Saudi Arabia’s national vision by delivering large-scale, high-impact infrastructure projects with precision and efficiency.
