Introduction
Saudi Gulf News: Jubail Industrial City is the world biggest industrial hub. It needs continuos supply of electricity in order to maintain it's status. Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu (RCJY) has initiated an expansion of mega project Substation 3. The purpose is to double the energy in Jubail 2 industrial zones (Phase 1, 2, and 3). SABIC and ARMCO will get always electricity without any interruption.

Technical Scope of Work
- Two new giant 300/400 MVA transformers will be installed.
- Existing network will be upgraded to 230/34.5 Kv.
- Modern Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) will be installed which will bear salty sea air.
- IEC 61850 international standard will be followed.
- Civil construction and underground caballing work is also exist in this network.
The reason of extension of deadline
Before the deadline was 03-March-2026 and now it is 16-March-2026. Contractors have gained much time to prepare their technical and financial proposals for quality bids. Big transformer delivery delay is also reason for this bid timeline extension. Contractors have a lot of pressure for other gega projects in Saudi Arabia.

- Al Fanar projects is one of the major contractor in power sector. Recently it has won SAR 299 million contract in Jazan Province.
- Nesma Infrastructure and Technology has won recently $224 million contract in Jubail Southeast.
- Hadi Haider Company is one of the old and experienced contractor in Jubail.
- India's L&T is working in many projects in Jubail.
- Hyundai E&C is one of the top Korea's Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor.
