Introduction
Saudi Gulf News: Oman has awarded $484 million of its
contracts in order to improve its road infrastructure project. These projects consist
of expansion of Muscat Expressway and dualization of Ibra road. The purpose of
this project is to make easy connection of cities and to solve traffic problems
due to population growth.

Muscat Expressway Expansion
- Signals
intersection will be made by replacing roundabout of Qurum Natural Park
and Saih Al Malih.
- Extra
lanes will be added on entrance and exit of bridges in order to flow
smooth traffic.
- Construction
of new flyovers will be done on Al Khoud 6th area and Ruwi to Expressway.
- Construction
of direct exits on Rusayl bridge which will be from Muscat to Burj Al
Sahwa.
- It
will be linked with Al Batinah Expressway.
Technical Improvements
Construction of collector and distributor roads from Al
Ghubrah to Al Mabaila. It means the service road on entry and exits of Expressway
Road will be developed in better way. So, the traffic on main Expressway will
not be disturbed.
