Oman Open Wadi Anaar Dam to Protect from Flood Valued RO 23 Million

The Wadi Anaar Dam which is located in Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar, Oman. The total value is approximately RO 23 million. The purpose is for flood protection, water security enhancement, and capture and manage rainwater from surrounding mountains. It is Inaugurated by Dr. Mahad Said Ba’owain, Minister of Labour. Government officials and private sector representatives also attended the ceremony.

The Key Features are Smart Monitoring Systems which include Real-time assessment of water levels. Seismic Sensors will be installed for monitoring geological activity. The surveillance cameras cover full coverage of dam sections for security and monitoring. The automatic control gates are remotely operated and integrated with a secure central control system. It allows precise regulation of water flow.

It protects critical infrastructure like Salalah Port, Raysut Industrial City, and Salalah Free Zone. It contributes to national water resource management and disaster risk reduction through advanced engineering and technology.
