Project Summary:
The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of Bahrain has
moved one step closer to establishing a major renewable energy project by
revealing the bid prices submitted for a 44 MWp Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power
Plant. The facility will be constructed within the University of Bahrain campus
and is expected to generate around 75 GWh of clean energy annually.
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, EWA
launched a tender process for the project earlier this year. In January 2025, nine
bidders submitted their technical and commercial proposals. Among them, Almoayyed
Solar Company offered the lowest bid at BHD 9.15 million, while TBEA
Xinjiang Sunoasis Company Limited submitted a bid of BHD 12.03 million.
The project will be executed on a Turnkey basis,
covering all phases from design and engineering to material supply,
installation, and commissioning, including both civil and
electromechanical works.
This initiative is part of Bahrain’s strategic push to diversify its energy sources and reduce carbon emissions through the adoption of large-scale solar energy projects.
