India's Larsen and Turbo (L&T) Secure $100 Million Contract From Oman Electricity Transmission Company

Scope of Project:

The project name is construction of Majan 400/220/132 KV Substation in Sohar Free Zone. The scope of work is underground cabelling work of 400 KV from Soher Free Zone to Soher Interconnection Station. There will be 8 GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) bays having capcity 400 KV, eight 220 KV GIS Bays will be installed. Step down transformer is also part of this project. Capacitor bank area, battery room, mechanical room, control room, communication rooms, and switchgear room is also part of this project. Two 500 MVA 400/220 KV and two 500 MVA 220/132 KV transformers will be installed. 

Monenco Consulting Engineers has been appointed to provide consultancy services for this project. 

Impact Assessment: 

Oman is modernizing its power grid system to provide more reliable power to its new industrial zone like (Soher, and Duqm) and  its residential units like Sultan Haitham City. This project will also boost renewable integration in upcoming solar and wind independent power plants (IPPs).
